🧪New Room Sketches and Future Plans!

Development on Bastion v2 has started !

There is a lot of new stuff that I will add to this game over the coming months and I wanted to offer an early look at some of my ideas. The sketches I attached are from an ongoing poll on my SubscribeStar. I thought it would be nice to share them with you, to offer an early look at the types of future content this game will have. I expect to eventually add around half of the top-voted rooms into the game.

I plan to expand the game in a variety of ways over the coming months:

  • Two new major characters will soon make their appearance. Audits will get a little more exciting.
  • An explorable dungeon will offer card battle challenges and rewards.
  • Winning the game will earn you post-game points that you'll be able to spend on new game boosters.
  • New events will be added in every updates, both for new rooms and to more fully flesh out the old ones.

Feel free to offer me feedback. I read every comment I receive and take any criticism into consideration. Which room ideas do you like the most? Let me know what you want to see added to this game or any ways in which I can improve it.

Loving everything here, can't wait for the update. And the other game. Also loving all the options. Orcs look cute!

I'm aiming to have v2 go public around the start of May and the other game to get released around the end of May. After that I'll take turns working on both of them, so there will be fresh content to look forward to every month!

I'm really enjoying the game so far! The mechanics seem like they could get really deep and still be manageable. As long as the margin for error doesn't get too small when you have a whole bunch of rooms, at least.

When I was playing it the main things that stuck out to me as unpolished were interface-related. It took me a long time to realize that I could grab and move the day-night meter, and also I think the secrets symbol should be a little more prominent than the other resources, since it's the main resource for progression. Also, in the "secrets known" tab, when you complete something it changes from a closed lock with red text beside it to a closed lock with green text beside it. Wouldn't it be better to have the icon change to an open lock?

For new rooms I think the gallery, the nap room, and the rabbit circus seem like a lot of fun. I don't know if I feel good about the orc jail, that seems like it's veering into a different and less friendly genre of smut.

Looking forward to v2!

I'll continue improving on the interface elements bit by bit. In v2 you'll get success rates for task assignments and any new secrets you discover will be logged in the daily reports. Open lock icons might confuse people, but I could add an asterisk or something to make them more visually distinct.

Orc Jail is the third highest voted in the poll at the moment, so it's likely to be added around v3 or v4, but I don't really plan to make it mean-spirited.

One thing I'd like to see, since I find some of the retake battles a bit too one sided if you get bad luck with draws is hiring someone to retake the area for a reasonable amount of money or "other" things. Though that's mainly because I always felt a bit too punished for opening rooms early so the new characters might make this redundant.

I'm introducing the ability to swap cards in your hand with random ones from your deck in v2. You'll be able to do this before the first round begins and at the end of any of your turns. This should make your decks more consistent.

I don't oppose offering the ability to pacify the rooms for money either. That might be something I'll look into adding to the game in the future.
